Schwarzenburg was described for the first time in 1615 as a wild field next to the Rochische Heyde on the black mountains . The name referred to a settlement on the Black Mountain, and in the course of time -berg became -burg . In 1554 there is an indication that the place (the black sheep farm) must have been desolate for a long time . Other spellings were Vorwerk Schwartzburg in 1730 and Schwarzenburg in 1733 . In 1823 the Schwarzenburg, Schwarzenberg or the black sheep farm were named. Schwarzenburg was an Electoral Saxon Vorwerk of the office of Schlieben , on which sheep was farmed. In popular parlance, the place name was explained in such a way that only black sheep were raised in Schwarzenburg and only white sheep were raised in Weißenburg . The place was parish in Proßmarke . The property later went into private ownership until it was bought by the tax authorities and a forestry department was set up. In 1830 Schwarzenburg received from King Friedrich Wilhelm III. its own school, which was set up in the building of an old tin spoon factory. A prayer room was also set up in this building, in which the teacher had to hold a prayer class every two weeks. In addition, baptisms and funerals were held in this room, for which, however, the pastor of Proßmarke carried out the sexton business. In 1906 a new school building with a prayer room was built in the same place, which was used as a school until 1972. In 1912 Schwarzenburg had about 166 inhabitants. From 1816 to 1952 Schwarzenburg belonged to the Prussian district of Schweinitz .

Today a school museum has been set up in the old school, which can be visited by appointment. The building with a one-class room, prayer room and teacher's apartment is a listed building and is unique in Brandenburg. Until recently, you could visit the old forester's house and an old barn in the village, but the forester's half-timbered house was destroyed in a fire.

On January 1, 1974, the place was incorporated into Walddrehna .
