Pitschen-Pickel ( Lower Sorbian Pěscyna-Pjakło ) is a district of the municipality Heideblick in the Dahme-Spreewald district in Brandenburg .
Geographical location
The district is about nine kilometers west of Luckau and north of the community center. The surrounding communities and districts are (clockwise): Paserin , Uckro , Langengrassau , Kemlitz and Schlagsdorf . To the west of the district, the Berlin – Dresden railway line passes the district in a north-south direction.
Pitschen is the north of the two parts of the village, Pickel the southern part.
etymology
Pastor Schenk derives the name of the two villages Pitschen-Pickel from Slavonic in a broadcast by the RBB . Accordingly, Pitschen is derived from the Slavic pechina = "village that is built on the sand", while Pickel is named after the Slavic pjetlow = "on the slope / in the gorge". This refers to the round village or the dead end village . The Sorbian folklorist Arnošt Muka derives the place name of Pickel from the word pjakło = "hell".
history
Pitschen was first mentioned in a document in 1527. At that time, however, a settlement must have already developed, because the stone church in the village was built in the 15th century. From the year 1723 10 fire places have survived. The Angerdorf developed independently until the 19th century and belonged to Falkenberg , while Pickel was connected to Uckro and Paserin. Pickels was first mentioned in 1452. On April 14, 1966, the two villages were merged. In 1995 the Pitschen-Pickel leisure club was founded . In 2003 a leisure center was established.
Culture and sights
The village church Pitschen is a hall building made of field stones and was built in the 15th century. In 1675 the parish added a patronage box . Inside there is a pulpit altar with an attachment from 1684 and a pulpit basket from 1725/1726.
In the list of architectural monuments in Heideblick , the church is listed as an architectural monument.
