Tom Bennecke

Tom Bennecke (born January 20, 1959 in Braunschweig ) is a German funk and fusion guitarist and composer.

Live and act

Bennecke grew up in a family of teachers. In the 1970s he first played in blues rock bands and maintained a trio as a street musician . From 1986 he completed a music teacher’s degree in order to be active in funk and soul bands and as a theater musician. In 1992 he was co-founder of the reggae band Whoopee Tayoh , which is still active today , with whom he recorded two CDs. With Space Guerilla he presented his first publication under his own name in 1993. He was also active as a studio musician for Dancing Fantasy and played in George Bishop's band .

In the jazz canteen , with which he repeatedly toured and released numerous albums, he had been working as a guitarist and composer since 1994. He also founded the Dub Guerilla project and performs with other artists, including the saxophonist and singer Catrin Groth.

In 2012 he founded the band project Groovelastics (Groove, Soul, Funk) at the Musische Akademie Braunschweig of the CJD .

Tom Bennecke has performed at over 1000 concerts in Germany and abroad.
