George Bishop (musician)
George Bishop (born May 2, 1947 in Philadelphia , Pennsylvania , † October 13, 2005 ) was an American saxophonist and founding member of the Jazzkantine formation .
Life
Bishop grew up in Philadelphia and played the clarinet from the age of eight. He played in school bands, later studied music and graduated with a diploma. From 1979 he lived in Braunschweig.
George Bishop was a multi-instrumentalist: he played alto saxophone , tenor saxophone , bass clarinet and flute . He also played bass and keyboard. His original style was the bop . He also grew up in the free jazz generation . He played as a studio musician for Dancing Fantasy and recorded four CDs with them (3 of which hit the Billboard charts). He was one of the founding members of the Jazzkantine formation from Braunschweig .
