The Weißenseepark is an 8.2 hectare park in the southeast of Munich in the Obergiesing district .

description

The roughly trapezoidal park is bordered by Setzbergstrasse in the north, Sintpertstrasse in the east, Weissenseestrasse in the south and Untersbergstrasse in the west. Events such as summer festivals or circus performances take place on the festival meadow, especially in summer . After the Ostfriedhof and the Perlacher Forst cemetery , it is by far the largest green space in the district. In the northeast corner of the park there is a non-public sports field, which is mainly used by the surrounding schools.

Separated by the little-used Weißenseestraße, the Katzenbuckel green area can be considered a continuation of the park. There is a toboggan hill, a playground that was redesigned in 2016, table tennis tables, a football field and a dirt park .

Interrupted by the Mittlerer Ring (at the level of the St.-Quirin-Platz subway station ), another green belt about 1.5 km long but only 100 meters wide and also with several leisure facilities extends to Tiroler Platz in Harlaching . This follows a natural slope edge, which is also the border between Giesing and Harlaching. From there you have a good view of the training grounds of FC Bayern Munich .
