The white buttercup ( Ranunculus amplexicaulis ) is a species of the genus buttercup ( Ranunculus ).
features
The white buttercup is a perennial, herbaceous plant that reaches heights of 4 to 30 centimeters. The leaves are entire. The basal leaves are not divided. The basal leaf blade is ovate-lanceolate. The stem leaves are surrounding the stem. The flower stalks are bare. The sepals are bare. The fruits are clearly veined.
The flowering period extends from May to July.
The species is diploid and has the number of chromosomes 2n = 16.
Occurrence
The species occurs in the central and eastern Pyrenees on mats at altitudes of 1000 to 2500 meters.
use
The white buttercup is rarely used as an ornamental plant for rock gardens. The species has been in culture since at least 1605.
