The Weikensee is located in the town of Hamminkeln ( Wesel , North Rhine-Westphalia ) and has the water number 2709. The result is he, to promote construction material. From 1968 to 1982 there was " gravel " to a maximum depth of around 12 meters .

The lake has an extension of about 550 m in north-south direction and about 320 m in west-east direction. It lies between the A3 in the north, the B 473 in the west, the state road 602 in the south and the Wesel – Bocholt railway in the east. The Alte Issel flows east of the lake at a distance of 50 to 150 m.

To its current name of Weikensee came in the 1990s by a contest in which you could submit proposals. “Weiken” means “small meadows” in Low German , and the area originally consisted of these.

Today the lake is used, among other things, by a model boat club and a fishing club .
