Hamlet (desert, Rehweiler)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Weiler is a deserted village in the district of hostage Winder hamlet Rehweiler in the district of Kitzingen in Lower Franconia. The community was probably given up in the 15th century. However, the corridor was repopulated under the name Rehweiler in the 18th century.

Geographical location

Weiler was roughly at the point where Rehweiler rises today, about halfway between Abtswind in the west and Geiselwind in the northeast. The district road KT 15 divides the old district into two parts. The village was located above the Steigerwaldschwelle and was thereby exposed to the climatic conditions much more than the neighboring Geiselwind. To the west of the village was Fuchsstatt , which was given up around the same time as Weiler.

history

Weiler was first mentioned as "villa Wielere" in 1258. In 1357 Hans Kolle zu Rüdenhausen received a tithe for "Wiler". The district of the village reappeared in the sources in 1382. The Casteller Ministeriale Walther von Abenberg sold some meadow land "in the Mark zu Weiler". In 1384 Wilhelm von Abenberg received the feud from the Castell counts.

When the next fiefdom was handed down, Christoph von Wenkheim in 1427, it was just a desert. At that time, Wenkheim received from Count Wilhelm II zu Castell "Weyler die wustunge with all its affiliations". In 1444, Weiler was named as "lying near Fuchsstatt". It can therefore be assumed that the Fuchsstatt settlement was inhabited for a longer period of time. The fields around hamlet were still cultivated.

In 1697 Johann Friedrich zu Castell-Rüdenhausen acquired the desert and converted the fields into chamber property , which he gave to two of his officials. In the 18th century people settled there again, now under the name Rehweiler. On May 11, 1714, the settlement was described again during a march walk, the new subjects were presented in a document.
