Weilerbach is subordinate to the municipality of Berdorf and the canton of Echternach . It is located on the right bank of the Sauer , which marks the border between Luxembourg and Germany in this area. On the left side of the Sauer, across from Weilerbach, is the German Weilerbach, which belongs to the Rhineland-Palatinate Bollendorf .

Weilerbach is connected to Germany by a pedestrian bridge, the Alfred Toepfer Bridge.

Weilerbach is known for a home for asylum seekers, which has been located in the building of a former health resort since 2000 and sometimes causes resentment among the population. Around 250 people live in the asylum seekers' home, which makes up a significant part of Weilerbach's population. The remaining inhabitants of the village are spread over a few houses and chalets along the Sauer.
