The listed building was dated in the Radebeul monument list as a vineyard house to around 1830. Today's two-storey, basement "pavilion with wine cellar" was built at the end of the 19th century as an ice cellar and pavilion "perhaps in connection" with the nearby Knötzsch's wine restaurant , which opened in 1898/99 was built by the architect Carl Käfer at Schildenstrasse 17.

The yellow brick building with red brick structure has a flat gable roof with a hip-rafter gable facing the street. The rectangular windows on the ground floor and the arched windows on the upper floor are largely framed by sandstone walls.

With the expansion of the Radebeul-Ost redevelopment area, the city of Radebeul bought the property belonging to the Society for the Promotion of the Frauenkirche. In 2015 the plan was published to redesign the area around the historic wine bar into a children's playground and to create a connection to the Karl-May-Hain on the back . With the so-called Karl-May-Hain park, since 2018, in addition to the northern exit to the Karl-May-Museum , there is also a second exit to the east to Schildenstrasse.
