Au wine museum
The Weinbaumuseum Au in the district of Au in Wädenswil is the only museum in the canton of Zurich , which is entirely the issue of viticulture dedicated. The museum was opened in 1978 in a barn converted for this purpose at the foot of a vineyard on the Au peninsula .
The most important exhibit is the 12.5 meter long tree press from 1761, which was in operation until 1945. Another valuable yoke press dates back to 1636. In addition to other presses and wagons, numerous smaller historical exhibits relating to viticulture are on display. In the wine museum there is also the possibility to taste or purchase wine and to visit the associated vineyard with an old hail cannon.
