Lars Scheibner (* 1976 in Leningrad , Soviet Union ) is a German dancer and choreographer .

life and career

Scheibner was born in Leningrad in 1976 to a German father and a Russian mother . After four years at the children's and youth sports school in Berlin, he broke off his career as a figure skater and began his eight-year training at the Berlin State Ballet School in 1987 . From 1995 to 1997 Lars Scheibner was a group dancer on the stages of the city of Gera , where he took part in the world premiere of Mario Schröder's The Wall . In 1998 he went to the Komische Oper Berlin as a soloist . This was followed by an engagement with the Ballet Kiel. For his incarnation of the title role in Mario Schröder's dance piece The Dream of Vincent van Gogh , he was nominated as the most prominent young dancer of 2003 by the specialist journal Ballett-Tanz . At the same time, Lars Scheibner has also been active in choreography since his training. Martin Robacki's interdisciplinary dance installation Prometheus Fantasia , which was shown as a cultural contribution by the State of Brandenburg at the Expo 2000 in Hanover and for which Scheibner developed large parts of the choreography, attracted particular attention .

In January 2016, Lars Scheibner took over the artistic direction of the German Dance Company in Neustrelitz.
