The Weinbergfriedhof was a burial place in Detmold in the Lippe district ( North Rhine-Westphalia ). The still preserved grave monuments, remains of the quarry stone wall and a forged iron grating including gate in the northwest have been entered in the list of monuments of the city of Detmold since May 17, 1985 .

The grave monuments were already protected under the Lippe Heimatschutzgesetz of 1920.

history

Before 1625, all Detmold citizens were buried in the cemetery in front of the Evangelical Reformed Church . When the plague broke out in the city in 1625, a new cemetery was set up in front of the former Lemgoer Tor (today the location of the Weerthschule ). Here, too, the space finally ran out, and so the cemetery in front of the Hornschen Tor on the vineyard was laid out in the 18th century.

Until 1880, the city used the vineyard cemetery for burials. When the Fürstin-Pauline-Stiftung began building a nursing home on the property at the end of 1954 , the unlabeled crosses and tombstones were destroyed or given a new use, and the tombstones, which were considered worth preserving, were moved. The residential complex was expanded in 1985, and the grave monuments had to change their location again.

Of the 34 grave monuments on the site, three are of particular importance, here are the poet Christian Dietrich Grabbe with his mother Dorothea Grabbe, née. Grüttemeier (born November 10, 1765, † October 2, 1856), and Princess Christine zur Lippe, b. Princess zu Solms-Braunfels (* 1744, † December 16, 1823), who expressly requested a simple burial before her death and was therefore not buried in the princely crypt.
