from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Freiherr von Gleichenstein winery is located in Vogtsburg - Oberrotweil in the Kaiserstuhl in the Baden wine-growing region . The Kaiserstuhl is one of the warmest regions in Germany and has numerous vineyards.

history

In 1490 the St. Blasien monastery built a tithe cellar with tithe barn . Many of these elaborately crafted wooden structures and the wine cellar have been preserved in their original form to this day. The farm has been in the family since 1634.

When Hans Joachim von Gleichenstein took over the estate in 1959, he converted what was then a mixed farm, which was mainly characterized by fruit growing and dairy farming, into an estate with an economic focus on viticulture . In 1970/71 the "Hofgarten", which is planted with fruit trees, was converted into vineyards and in 1976 vines were bought on the Henkenberg, which were already owned by Ignaz von Gleichenstein .

Johannes von Gleichenstein (* 1973) has been running the winery in the eleventh generation since 2002.
