description

The white stone tower has a square floor plan with an edge length of approx. 5.2 m and tapers from approx. 2/3 height to approx. 3.5 m edge length. It is surrounded on all sides by an approx. 1.2 m high wall with twelve brick pillars supporting a roof covered with plain tiles, the upper edge of which extends to about 1/3 the height of the tower. This results in a large shelter space.

Above the access door on the south side of the tower there is a memorial plaque of the Odenwald Club in the middle, which commemorates the construction of the tower in 1906, the chairman of the Odenwald Club, Prof. J. Greber, who fell in World War I, and all hikers who died in the war. To the side of this there are inscriptions in memory of the construction of the tower. The spiral staircase in the interior of the tower, made of sandstone steps, follows a cross shape and ends at a height of 16.3 m on a concrete slab, from which a metal spiral staircase leads to the 19 m high viewing platform . This used to offer a good view of the surrounding mountains of the Odenwald through the four windows , which is now very limited as there are tall trees all around. The top of the tower is a pyramid roof made of copper, the top of which is 4 m above the viewing platform,
