The Weissmieshütte is a refuge of the SAC on the west side of the Lagginhorns in Valais . Together with the old hut right next door, the term Weissmieshütten is also used.
In 1894 the old Weissmieshütte was built as the Weissmies Hotel, which was acquired by the Olten section of the SAC in 1924 and operated with 50 beds. In 1960 a new hut was built right next to it. The huts are operated in summer for mountaineers and in winter the new hut is open for skiers.
Talort is Saas-Grund . The ascent to the hut can be shortened considerably by taking a cable car ride from Saas Grund to the Kreuzboden station (around 2400 m above sea level ) or Hohsaas ( 3141 m ).
The Weissmieshütte is the base for the ascent to the Fletschhorn , Lagginhorn and Weissmies via the Trift glacier as well as the Jegihorn and the Jegigrat .
