Wella Museum

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Wella Museum was a museum on the subject of hairdressing trade and tradition in Hesse . It was operated by the Wella company in Darmstadt and showed a large number of historical objects relating to the hairdressing trade from different centuries. Many apprentice hairdressers completed their apprenticeship with a visit to the Wella Museum.

The subject areas in the museum were: skin and body care , decorative cosmetics , fragrance and perfume , hairdressing , beard and shave , hair and company history .

The museum was located in downtown Darmstadt on the company's premises between Berliner Allee and Holzhofallee. It was closed by the parent company Procter & Gamble after the Wella location in Darmstadt was closed. Some of the exhibits will initially be given to the Schlossmuseum Darmstadt , but some will also be shown at the new company headquarters in Schwalbach am Taunus and in the Wella Welt Studio in Frankfurt am Main . On November 4, 2013, however, it was announced that the collection of the Wella Museum would become the property of the Hessian State Museum as a gift and thus almost entirely remain in Darmstadt.

In the Hessian State Museum, selected exhibits are to be integrated into the existing permanent exhibitions and can be viewed again after the reopening of this museum in 2014. A special exhibition with exhibits from the collection is also planned for 2015.
