Wellington is the name of a subway station owned by the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) in Medford in the state of Massachusetts in the United States . The station offers access to the Orange Line .

history

As early as 1845 Medford was connected to the network of the Boston and Maine Railroad . Around 1900 a station called Wellington was built for this company on 5th Street and demolished again in 1957 when the line was closed.

The current station was opened on September 6, 1975 as part of the Haymarket North Extension approximately 0.5  mi (0.8  km ) south of the first station. Until the later commissioning of the following stations, Wellington was the northern terminus of the Orange Line .

environment

The stop is mainly used as a park and ride station, for which 1,316 paid parking spaces are available. There is also a connection to nine MBTA bus routes at the station.
