management

The President of the international umbrella organization has been the Lebanese theologian Najla Kassab Abousawan since 2017. The Canadian Chris Ferguson has been General Secretary since 2014 .

history

The world community was created in June 2010 by the merger of WARC and the Reformed Ecumenical Council ( Reformed Ecumenical Council , REC). The first general secretary of the WGRK was the Ghanaian theologian Setri Nyomi , who had been general secretary of the Reformed World Federation since 2000.

The federation was formed in 1970 in Nairobi as a merger of a Presbyterian world organization founded in 1875 and a congregational world organization founded in 1891 . The Reformed World Council was formed in 1946.

On January 1, 2014, the WRK relocated its headquarters from Geneva to Hanover in order to save costs. Their seat, like that of the Reformed Covenant , is in the Calvin Center .
