The Welyka Buhajicha or Welyka Buhajiwka ( Ukrainian Велика Бугаїха / Велика Бугаївка ) is a limestone ridge ( Towtry / Товтри ) in the west of the Ukrainian Oblast Khmelnyzkyj .
The mountain in the east of the village of Holenyshchev in the Chemerivtsi district has a height of 400.6 m , other sources 409 m and is the highest point in the Khmelnitsky Oblast.
The Velyka Buhajiwka was the highest elevation in Ukraine between 1917 and 1939 , as the Crimea was part of the Russian Federation at that time and only when further areas came to the Ukrainian SSR after the Soviet occupation of Eastern Poland in 1939 , the 2061 m high Hoverla in the Carpathians loosened the Velyka Buhajiwka as the highest mountain in Ukraine.
The mountain dominates the surroundings of the 66 hectare protected landscape area of national importance Welyka i Mala Buhajichy (Ukrainian: Велика і Мала Бугаїхи , ID 68-252-5009) established in 1986.
