Turn (unit)

The turn was a name for a surface area for land and forest areas in northwest Germany . In general:

• 1 turn = ½ morning
• 1 turn = 60 square rods

In the Kingdom and Province of Hanover, the measure was dependent on the region and so in the Landdrostei Stade the measure for the individual offices was:

• Hadeln and Hechthausen
  • 1 turn = 1 ½ Hanoverian acres = 0.39315 hectares
  • Inference 1 hectare = 2.5435 turn
• Kedigen, Office Neuhaus an der Oste , Bremervörde , Himmelpforten and Hagen
  • 1 turn = 2 Hanoverian acres = 0.52420 hectares
  • Inference 1 hectare = 1.9077 turn
• East office 1 turn = 2 ⅔ Hanoverian morning
  • 1 turn = 2 ⅔ Hanoverian morning = 0.69894 hectares
  • Inference 1 hectare = 1.4308 turn
