Wendell Phillips (archaeologist)
Wendell Phillips (born September 25, 1925 - December 4, 1975 ) was an American archaeologist from the Near East .
Wendell Phillips founded the American Foundation for the Study of Man on May 13, 1949 . He was best known for his four expeditions and excavations between 1950 and 1952 in Yemen ( Awwam temple) and in Oman , about which he wrote the book Qataban + Sheba - exploring the ancient kingdoms on the biblical spice routes of arabia .
