The Werbljud Island ( Russian Купол Верблюд Kupol Werbljud , German , camel's hump ' ) is an ice-covered island off the coast of the East Antarctic Queen Maud Lands . It is located in Leningradskiy Bay on the eastern edge of the Lazarev Ice Shelf . The island rises about 200 meters above the level of the ice shelf that it completely encloses.
It was mapped and descriptively named after its shape in 1961 by a Soviet Antarctic expedition .
