Weressow opening

The Weressow opening , sometimes referred to as the Richter-Weressow system , is an opening of the game of chess . It is one of the closed-end games , where the Queen's Pawn games and is in the ECO codes classified under the key D01.
The Weressow opening occurs after the moves 1. d2 – d4 d7 – d5 2. Nb1 – c3 Ng8 – f6 3. Bc1 – g5
The opening is named after the Soviet master player Gavriil Veressow (1912-1979), who used it several times from 1938 onwards at USSR championships. In the German-speaking world, the opening is named after Kurt Richter . Richter played the opening in the 1920s and 1930s often and was by Alfred Brinckmann one who "first thoroughly explored ."
The main plan of this opening is to move quickly e2 – e4 in order to place two pawns in the center , securing the space advantage .

3.… c6 4. Bxf6 exf6 (or 4.… gxf6) 5. e4 and 4. Qd3
3.… e6 4. e4 leads to the French defense .
