Andrew David Martin (born May 18, 1957 in West Ham , London ) is an English chess player with the title of International Master .

Life

Martin is the winner of various international and national tournaments. In the British Four Nations Chess League Andrew Martin played in the 1993/94 season for Covent Garden , in the 1995/96 season for Guildford and from 1997 to 2013 for Wood Green (from 2008 Wood Green Hilsmark Kingfisher ), with whom he in 2003 , 2005 , 2006 , 2009 and 2010 British team champion. Martin has been registered with Guildford A&DC since the 2013/14 season .

Martin received his title as International Master in 1984. He won his first grandmaster norm at the British Championship in Brighton in 1997.

Martin was a commentator of the 2000 World Chess Championship between Kasparov and Kramnik .

On February 21, 2004, Martin set a new world record in simultaneous chess . He played against 321 chess players at the same time. His result was: 294 wins, 26 draws and only one losing game.

Martin is known as a professional chess teacher and head coach of the English youth team. He trains in eight schools (Yateley Manor, Aldro, Millfield, Sunningdale, Waverley School, St Michael's Sandhurst, Wellington College, Salesian College). Since 2009 he has held the title of FIDE Senior Trainer.

Martin is a chess columnist, chess author and author of various instructional videos. He was the publisher of the Trends Publications series .

Martin lives in Sandhurst , England , is married and has two daughters and two sons.
