Factory assistant jewelry industry, pocket and wrist watches

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The assistant in the jewelry industry, pocket and wristwatches is a state-recognized training occupation that existed before the Vocational Training Act came into force .

Duration of training and structure

The training period to become a factory assistant in the jewelry industry, pocket and wristwatches is usually three years. The training takes place at the training company and vocational school .

Work areas

Shop assistants work for jewelry and watch manufacturers . They ensure that the production stations are replenished and that enough materials and individual parts are available to assemble the products. You will continue to work in the commercial area, for example when ordering raw materials for production .

outlook

The training content is very outdated. A revision is therefore urgently required. In addition, the number of trainees is comparatively low: it fluctuated between 15 and 12 trainees in the years 1995 to 2008.

An investigation by the BiBB should check whether the profession can be reorganized together with other training professions, such as the fine polisher or the metal grinder . As a result, it was concluded that the differences between the individual training occupations are too great.

It would therefore be conceivable to rearrange the profession and give it a more attractive job title. As a working title, the business community suggested “Production Assistant”.
