Metal grinder

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The metal grinder is a state-recognized training occupation in Germany according to the Vocational Training Act (BBiG).

Duration of training and structure

The training period to become a metal grinder is usually two years. The training takes place at the training company and vocational school .

The occupation is known as the “scrap metal occupation” because it existed before the Vocational Training Act came into force. He was recognized on March 7, 1939. According to Section 108 (1) BBiG, these professions are considered training professions within the meaning of Section 25 BBiG until regular training regulations are created.

Work areas

Metal grinders work on the surface of objects made of iron, steel or non-ferrous metals. These can be gears , roller bearings or drive elements that are given the desired smooth surface by processing the metal grinder. They find their place of work in metal processing companies, but also in vehicle construction or in foundries.

development

The training regulations for the profession from 1939 are out of date. There is no training regulation with detailed content and modern examination requirements. The Federal Institute for Vocational Training therefore examined this and other professions in 2009 before the Vocational Training Act came into force.

In its investigation, the BiBB comes to the conclusion that these training occupations could flow into a new training occupation with a focus or specialization. Specialist for metal technology was chosen as the working title . The profession could include a broad-based qualification base and differentiate into individual areas in the second year. Within this profession, the qualifications of a metal grinder could be bundled together with those of the milling cutter and grinder in one focus “Milling and grinding technology”.

It would also be conceivable that a trainee who has successfully completed his training as a specialist in metal technology can continue his training in a three or three and a half year industrial metal profession, e.g. B. as an industrial mechanic or process mechanic for plastics and rubber technology . The training time already completed should be taken into account.
