Werner Beyer (born September 11, 1920 in Schmölln ; † February 17, 1997 in Dresden ) was the solo bass trombonist of the Saxon State Orchestra in Dresden from 1952 to 1985 .

From 1935 to 1939 Werner Beyer attended the orchestra and musician school , at that time known colloquially as the “ city ​​pipe ”, in Radebeul near Dresden . From 1937 to 1939 he studied trombone there with Professor Alois Bambula, who was then solo trombonist of the Dresden State Orchestra . Werner Beyer was drafted for military service in 1939 and in 1945 was taken prisoner by the Soviets , from which he returned to Germany in 1949. After another year of study with Professor Bambula, he was hired in 1951 as bass trombonist at the Halle Symphony Orchestra . From February 1952 to 1985, chamber virtuoso Werner Beyer was the solo bass trombonist of the Saxon State Orchestra Dresden. At the same time, from 1952 to 1985 he held a teaching position for trombone at the "Carl Maria von Weber" Academy of Music in Dresden. Former students of Werner Beyer were and are members of many German cultural orchestras , for example the MDR symphony orchestra , the Staatskapelle Berlin and the Elbland Philharmonie Sachsen .
