Werner Dietrich

Werner Dietrich (born May 9, 1916 in Fentsch ; † December 16, 1997 in Pforzheim ) was a German doctor in Pforzheim and an official of dance sports .

Life and work

Dietrich studied medicine in Berlin , Kiel and Innsbruck . During the Second World War he was a medical officer on the Eastern Front for a short time, and after being wounded, he became chief physician of a hospital ship on the Danube.

After the war, Dietrich married and had two children with his wife. In the GDR he ran a family doctor's practice in Waltershausen from 1945 to 1956 and was also the company doctor in a rubber factory. After fleeing the GDR , he came to Pforzheim in 1957 and opened a family doctor's practice in the Arlinger district.

Dietrich, who was already active as a tournament dancer , joined the black and white dance club, of which he was chairman from 1960 to 1983.

Voluntary functions

From 1960 to 1983 Dietrich was president of the dance sport club Schwarz-Weiß-Club Pforzheim eV, from 1972 to 1980 vice-president of the dance sport association Baden-Württemberg. In 1962 he founded the international dance tournament for the Goldstadtpokal , of which he was director until 1983 and which he brought to the top of the world dance tournament in just a few years. This tournament is still being played today.

Honors

Because of his commitment to dance, Dietrich was awarded the Federal Cross of Merit on Ribbon in 1981 and the Ring of Honor of the City of Pforzheim in 1990.
