Werner Gailis
Werner Gailis (born February 7, 1925 in Berlin ; † 1993 ) was a German sculptor and university professor .
Life
Werner Gailis studied from 1948 to 1954 at the Free University and at the University of Fine Arts in Berlin. In 1955 he set up the metal workshop there, which he ran. From 1964 until his retirement in 1990 he was a professor at the Berlin University of the Arts. Gailis mainly worked in bronze and, in addition to life-size female nudes, designed sacred art for Catholic churches in Berlin. His apartment with the posthumous work has been preserved unchanged in the Bissingzeile in Berlin-Schöneberg .
