Werner Heger

Werner Heger (born July 29, 1942 in Mannheim ) is a former German shot putter .

He was German youth champion in 1960 and German junior champion in shot put in 1962. In the adult sector, Heger reached third place at the German championships in 1963 and fourth the following year, before he won the championship title in Duisburg in 1965 with a width of 18.01 meters. He achieved his personal best on August 12, 1965 in Augsburg with 18.02 meters. In the same year he represented Germany at the first European Cup , where he was fifth. He also won the German University Championship that year and came seventh at the Universiade in Budapest . In 1967 and 1968 he was third in the German championships.

Heger started for the TB Germania Reilingen and the USC Heidelberg . Later he was a national shot put coach and trainer at TSV Oftersheim . By profession he was a secondary school teacher.
