Werner Herbert

Werner Herbert (born August 29, 1963 in Hartberg ) is an Austrian politician ( FPÖ ) and police officer . In 2008 he was a short-term member of the Federal Council and from October 2008 to October 2013 a member of the Austrian National Council . From 2013 to November 2017 he was again active in the Federal Council and from November 2017 to October 2019 he was again represented in the National Council.

education and profession

Herbert attended elementary and secondary school from 1969 to 1977 and then the polytechnic course until 1978. He was then a police intern at the Vienna Federal Police Directorate between 1978 and 1981 and a police officer from 1981. In 1996 he was raised to the rank of Police Officer in charge.

Herbert was assigned to the Inner City Security Guard Department on September 1, 1982, and served in various departments in the 1st District. From 1996 he was the watch commander, on November 1, 2005 he was promoted to deputy inspection commander of the Goethegasse police station .

Political career

Herbert worked between 2000 and 2005 and from 2010 to date as the FPÖ councilor in Enzersdorf an der Fischa, where he is also Vice Mayor. Herbert was elected in 2003 to the function of district party chairman of the FPÖ Bruck an der Leitha . Herbert has been a member of the regional party executive of the FPÖ Lower Austria since 2005 and since 2009 also a member of the federal party executive of the FPÖ. Herbert is also active in employee representation. From 1996 he became involved in the Action Group for Independent and Freedom Party (AUF). Since 1999 he has been the staff representative of the AUF at the Vienna State Police Directorate. In 2006 he was elected member of the federal executive committee of the AUF and chairman of the AUF executive branch in Vienna, and since 2009 he has been the national chairman of the AUF.

From April 10, 2008 to October 27, 2008 Werner Herbert was a member of the Federal Council for the first time as a representative of Lower Austria and the FPÖ. Herbert ran for the National Council in the 2008 National Council election and was sworn in on October 28, 2008 as a member of the Lower Austria South-East regional constituency . In the FPÖ parliamentary club , Herbert took on the role of area spokesman for the public service. After the state elections in Lower Austria in 2013 , Werner Herbert moved again to the Federal Council as a member of the Lower Austrian state parliament . At the beginning of the 26th legislative period, Herbert was again sworn in as a member of the National Council on November 9, 2017. After the National Council election in 2019 , he resigned from the National Council.

Private

Herbert is married and has four children. He lives in Margarethen am Moos .
