Werner Kirstein (politician)

Werner Kirstein (born September 28, 1927 in Dorsten ; † May 10, 2005 ibid) was a German politician and member of the state parliament ( CDU ).

Life and work

After attending elementary school and business school , he completed a commercial training and then worked as an industrial clerk. From 1955 he was a commercial clerk in the mining industry .

In 1943, at the age of 16, Kirstein was both the regular leader of the German Young People and the Hitler Youth in Dorsten for almost five months . He then acted briefly as a sports warden for the Hitler Youth in the Recklinghausen district before joining the navy towards the end of the war .

The experience with National Socialism meant that Kirstein initially wanted nothing more to do with politics after the war. This changed in 1952 when he became a member of the CDU and began to get involved in numerous party bodies. So he was u. a. from 1983 to 1985 member of the state executive committee of the CDU Westphalia-Lippe. Since 1955 he was a member of IG Bergbau .

From May 29, 1980 to May 30, 1990, Kirstein was a member of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia . He was elected from his party's national list.

He was a member of the city ​​council of Dorsten from 1961 to 1964 and from 1969 to 1984. From 1961 he was a member of the district council of the Recklinghausen district .
