Werner Krammel

Werner Krammel (born February 19, 1949 in Munich ) is a German swimmer and Olympic participant in 1968.

The 1.87 m tall and 83 kg heavy Krammel started for the SV Würzburg 05 and won the German championship in the 1500 m freestyle and the runner-up in the 400 m freestyle in 1968 .

He took part in the 1968 Olympic Games in Mexico City , but could not qualify for the finals in the 200 or 400 m freestyle. In preparation for the 1972 Olympics in Munich , doctors experimented with blood doping , among other things. a. also to Krammel. He suffered a cardiac arrest of 30 seconds after a blood sample and was unable to participate in the games. Werner Krammel was a total of 10 years in the German national team and was Bavarian champion in the open class several times.

From 1994 to 2006, Krammel was chairman of the first Munich swimming club, EMSC .
