Werner Latscha
Werner Latscha (born March 4, 1925 in Zurich ; † November 29, 2019 ) was a Swiss lawyer and rail manager. From 1974 to 1984 he was General Director of the Swiss Federal Railways and from 1984 to 1990 President of the General Management. At that time, three district directorates were directly subordinate to the general management - in Lausanne , Lucerne and Zurich.
Latscha grew up as the son of a driver of the VBZ in Zurich. He completed a commercial apprenticeship there and worked variously as a commercial clerk. In 1947 he graduated from high school and studied law in Zurich and Geneva until 1952 . He completed his studies with a doctorate.
Professional career as a lawyer
- 1953–1960 Secretary of the Industrial Companies of the City of Zurich
- 1954 Admitted to the Zurich bar
- 1960–1973 director of the VBZ
- 1959–1973 Director of the Lake Zurich Shipping Company
- 1962–1973 head of the Forchbahn
The three aforementioned offices in personal union.
- 1974–1984 Director General of SBB; he replaced Roger Desponds .
- 1984–1990 President of the SBB General Management.

- 1971–1973 Vice President of the Association of Public Transport
- 1984–1991 Board member at Swissair
- 1990–1998 President of the Museum of Transport in Lucerne
