Werner Lauterbach (born June 10, 1930 in Cunnersdorf ; † August 12, 2012 in Freiberg ) was a German homeland researcher, folklorist, publicist and author .

Life

Already in his youth, Lauterbach showed his interest in local history , stimulated by Max Kästner's publications . Like his role model Kästner, Lauterbach took up the teaching profession, which he carried out until his retirement in 1992.

Lauterbach was one of the founding members of the Freiberg Altertumsverein in 1990 , he led the beer history working group and was on the board of the association until his death. Since the releases of the Freiberg Antiquities Association reappeared in 1992, Lauterbach has been the responsible editor and chairman of the editorial board. He also worked as a city guide in his hometown of Freiberg.

The focus of the research was the history of the city of Freiberg, of Freiberg beer and personalities of the Freiberg region, in particular Christlieb Ehregott Gellert . In the weekly newspaper "Freiberger Blick" he published a series about historical Freiberg personalities. As a speaker, Lauterbach distinguished himself through his relaxed presentation style, with which he was able to present historical topics to a large audience. His lecturing activities, in which he u. a. worked for the German Bombastus Society, reached far beyond Freiberg. In 1993 he gave the keynote lecture on the humanist Petrus Mosellanus to an audience of 800 in Bruttig-Fankel .

For his life's work, Lauterbach was honored together with two other laureates in 2002 with the Andreas Möller History Prize, which was awarded for the first time by the Sparkasse Foundation for Art and Culture of the Kreissparkasse Freiberg and the Freiberg Antiquities Association. In 2003 the city of Freiberg honored Lauterbach's work with the Citizens' Prize, which Günther Knauf received alongside him.
