Werner Leitner (lawyer)

Werner Leitner (* 1959 in Pfarrkirchen ) is a German lawyer and specialist lawyer for criminal law , specializing in criminal defense in commercial and tax criminal matters .

Life

After completing his law studies at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich and a station in Chicago , Leitner initially worked as an attaché at the Foreign Office in Bonn . He ended his diplomatic career in 1989 and began his career as a criminal defense lawyer. Initially, he worked in the law firm of Munich defense attorney Rolf Bossi, until he and his colleagues founded their own law firm in Munich in 1993. Werner Leitner has been running this law firm as Leitner & Partner since 2012 .

Among other things, he represented the FC Bayern President Uli Hoeneß after his final conviction in the subsequent execution of sentences and defended one of the defendants in the Munich plutonium smuggling trial in 1995 .

Leitner has worked in the professional judiciary for several years and was appointed presiding judge of the 2nd Senate at the Bavarian Lawyers' Court (BayAGH) in 2011. In July 2014 Werner Leitner was appointed honorary professor for commercial criminal law and criminal procedure law by the University of Augsburg . He is co-editor and member of the editorial board of the criminal defense forum magazine .

Memberships

Werner Leitner is a member of German and international lawyers' associations. He was Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Criminal Law Working Group of the German Lawyers' Association (DAV) and a permanent guest on the criminal law committee of the DAV and the Federal Bar Association (BRAK). At European and international level he is a member of the International Criminal Bar (ICB) and the European Criminal Bar Association (ECBA).
