Werner Mellis

Werner Mellis (* 1951 ) is a German mathematician and business IT specialist .

Life

Mellis studied physics and mathematics at the University of Cologne and received his doctorate there in 1980. He worked as an assistant at the University of Cologne until 1984 and dealt with and apart from basic mathematical research, the computer simulation of mathematical skills. During his work for Nixdorf Computer AG and Daimler-Benz AG, he was responsible for research projects. In 1993 he returned to the university when he was appointed to the chair for business informatics and systems development at Cologne University. From April 2011 to March 2019 he was dean of the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences.

His main focus is the management of software development, in particular quality management and the design of software processes. In addition, he was Chairman of the Supervisory Board of SQS Software Quality Systems AG from 2001 to 2014 .
