Werner Schönfelder

Werner Schönfelder (born March 3, 1908 in Peine , † August 22, 1982 in Bad Nenndorf ) was a German theologian and politician ( DP , CDU ). From 1947 to 1970 he was a member of the Lower Saxony state parliament.

After attending the secondary school in Peine, Schönfelder studied Protestant theology and from 1933 worked as a clergyman at the court prison in Hanover . Since 1935 he worked as a pastor in Woltersdorf .

In 1945 Schönfelder took part in the founding of the Lower Saxony State Party (NLP) in the Lüchow-Dannenberg district , from which the Lower Saxony State Association of the German Party (DP) later emerged. He was elected to the Lower Saxony state parliament in 1947 , where he was chairman of the DP parliamentary group from 1949 to 1951 and chairman of the joint parliamentary group made up of the DP and CDU from 1951 to 1955. From 1955 to 1959 he was deputy chairman of the DP / CDU parliamentary group and from 1959 to 1962 again chairman of the DP parliamentary group. After joining the CDU on March 29, 1962, he was deputy chairman of the CDU parliamentary group until 1967. He was also chairman of the cultural committee from 1951 to 1963. In 1970 he left the state parliament.

For his services he was awarded the Great Cross of Merit of the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany and the Great Cross of Merit of the Lower Saxony Order of Merit.
