Werner Schneege
Werner Schneege (born May 22, 1954 in Wittstock / Dosse ; † June 12, 1974 near Schutschur ) was a fatality on the inner-German border .
Life
Werner Schneege was an agricultural engineer by profession and worked as a forklift driver before he was called up. In November 1973 his service began as a basic military service with the border troops of the GDR . On the night of June 12th to 13th, 1974, he told Sergeant Gerd B., with whom he was on border duty, that he wanted to flee to the Federal Republic . He decided to come with me for fear of the consequences. At that time they were across from the village of Schutschur on the GDR bank of the Elbe . While swimming through the river, Gerd B. had to struggle with a strong current and no longer paid attention to Werner Schneege, who did not arrive on the western bank. Schneege's body was discovered on June 17, 1974 near Klein Kühren by GDR border troops.
