Werner Steinecker (born April 1, 1957 in Grieskirchen ) is an Austrian lawyer and has been General Director of Energie AG Upper Austria since 2017 .

Career

Steinecker began his training at Upper Austria in 1972. Kraftwerke AG (OKA, today Energie AG Oberösterreich) with an apprenticeship as a heavy current fitter. After completing his apprenticeship, he attended evening school HTL for electrical engineering from 1977 and graduated in 1982 with excellent results. In the following year, Steinecker began studying law at the Johannes Kepler University in Linz. In 1994 he obtained a doctorate in law from the Leopold-Franzens University in Innsbruck.

From 1997 to 1998 he completed an MBA in Canada at the University of Toronto. In 2002, Steinecker received his doctorate in social sciences from the Johannes Kepler University in Linz.

After completing his apprenticeship at OKA, he stayed with the company after completing his training. Professionally, he was promoted to head of the OKA's training and personnel development department. In June 1998 he was appointed by the Oberösterreichische Ferngas AG (today Energie AG Oberösterreich) as director of finance, human resources, law and sales. From September 2002 on, Steinecker was a member of the board of Energie AG Oberösterreich. As Chief Technical Officer (CTO) he headed the technical department. At the beginning of March 2017, he finally took over the post of General Director from his predecessor Leopold Windtner . Steinecker was elected unanimously.

Steinecker is involved in the Rotary Club Linz-Altstadt. He was Honorary President of the Upper Austrian Scouts for 12 years. From 2008 to 2013 he was a member of the University Council of the Johannes Kepler University Linz. He was President of the LIMAK Austrian Business School from 2004 to 2009. From 2018 to 2023 he is a member of the University Council of the University of Artistic and Industrial Design in Linz .

Steinecker is married and has two grown daughters. He lives in Kirchschlag near Linz . Since 1984 he has been a member of the Catholic student association KaV Austro-Danubia Linz in the ÖCV .
