Werner Syring
Werner Syring (born January 31, 1917 ) was a German football player who was active in East German football from 1949 to 1951 in the top division.
Athletic career
When the football league of the German Sports Committee started as the highest division for the entire eastern zone in early September 1949 , one of the fourteen participating teams was Thuringia's runners-up, SG Altenburg Nord , which four weeks later was renamed Central Sports Association Altenburg. The 32-year-old Werner Syring was also in their line-up. In the 24 game days counting 1949/50 season, he was not part of the team because he was only used as a defender in eleven point games. But he also came into play in the relegation game for relegation against the tied ZSG Anker Wismar , which Altenburg won 3-2. In the 1950/51 season both the ZSG (from January 1, 1951BSG Stahl Altenburg) and Werner Syring were able to improve their balance sheet compared to the previous season. In the now GDR-Oberliga named division with 34 point games, the Altenburger came in at twelfth place and Syring rose to 25 missions. It wasn't until the end of the season that he had to pause several times, mainly playing a defender again. Then Werner Syring ended his career in top football.
