Werner Vogel (chemist)

Werner Vogel (born July 21, 1925 in Sparnberg ; † March 10, 2018 ) was a German chemist in the field of glass chemistry.

As an employee of the Jena glassworks, Vogel began researching the material glass in the 1950s. With electron microscopic examinations of phase separation phenomena in glasses, he was already known internationally. At the end of the 1950s he was given a part-time teaching position, and in 1963 he completed his habilitation.

Werner Vogel became a professor at the University of Jena in 1966 . Since 1969 his area of ​​work has been called the Otto Schott Institute. From 1990 he was retired.
