Werner Zehme (born November 27, 1859 in Hagen ; died 1924 ) was a German painter, graphic artist, illustrator and writer.

Life

Zehme studied from 1879 to 1883 at the Royal Academy of Arts in Munich under Ludwig von Löfftz . He spent the period from 1887 to 1888 on a study visit to Edam-Volendam .

His illustrations appeared in the " Gartenlaube " in 1890, 1891, 1892, 1893, 1895, 1897 and 1898.

Numerous works, which he dedicated to the life of the poorest and the emigrants, testify to his social commitment.

He took part in art exhibitions in Berlin , Düsseldorf and in the Munich Glass Palace . Zehme worked in Berlin and from 1916 in Munich .
