history

The place, which consisted of three courtyards and a castle and was given to the knights of Wespach as a fief of the Prince Abbey of Kempten, existed as early as the early Middle Ages . The Ottobeuren monastery was wealthy in the hamlet from 1268. The place "Wespach" was given as a fief by the Ottobeuren monastery to the vassal Konrad von Lauben at the end of the 13th century. This in turn enfeoffed the knights of Attenhausen with the place. Konrad von Lauben held the tithe in Wespach, but sold it to the Ottobeuren Imperial Abbey in 1313. The Memmingen citizen Hans Sättelin bought the tithe from the Ottobeuren monastery in 1485, and the monastery sold the town itself to the Memmingen citizen families Egloffer and Zwicker. They later sold the property to the von Stoll and von Zoller noble families in Memmingen. The two noble families shared the lower jurisdiction and the high jurisdiction; The sovereign was Memmingen until 1803. With the Reichsdeputationshauptschluss the place came to Bavaria in 1803 and in 1818 was added to the political community Egg an der Günz.
