history

The company was founded in 1931 by Hans Wessel as a patent rubber brush factory in Wuppertal-Ronsdorf . In 1941 a branch opened in Wildbergerhütte, which has become the company's headquarters after the bombing of the Wuppertal location in 1943. Some of the Wessel-Werk buildings at the headquarters in Wildbergerhütte stand on the foundations of the former Erz-Poch-Werk , founded around 1470, which belonged to the silver and lead mine on the Wildberg and gave the place Wildbergerhütte its name.

In 1954 the name was changed to Wessel-Werk GmbH. A sales company was founded in the USA in 1987 and branches have also existed in China since 2002.

founder

The founder of Wessel-Werk, Hans Wessel, was born in Remscheid in 1902 as the son of the tool manufacturer Walter Wessel. After practical training in his father's company and technical studies in Darmstadt , Munich and Hanover , Hans Wessel returned to his father's company as operations manager.

Hans Wessel began developing and protecting his own inventions early on, especially in the field of grinding and hardening processes and in brush and nozzle technology. In the course of his life he was granted over 170 patents and utility models.

Products

Today's Wessel-Werk GmbH initially produced technical brushes and cleaning materials, but also non-industry products such as B. Street lights.

In 1965 the first nozzle for vacuum cleaners was developed. Due to the rapid development of the production of vacuum cleaner accessories, Wessel-Werk increasingly concentrated on this branch of production. Today Wessel-Werk supplies almost all manufacturers of vacuum cleaners internationally with vacuum cleaner nozzles in various specifications.
