Westerlund 1-237 or W237 is an extreme red supergiant belonging to the spectral class M3Ia. With an estimated diameter of 1245 solar radii, a luminosity of 234,000 L and an effective temperature of 3,600 K, it is one of the largest known stars . It is located in the star cluster Westerlund 1 in the constellation Altar , where it is one of a total of 4 known red giants ( Westerlund 1-26 , Westerlund 1-20, Westerlund 1-237, Westerlund 1-75). Westerlund 1-237 is surrounded by an elliptical radio nebula, which is similar in mass to that of W20 and W26, and is comparable to that of VY Canis Majoris.
