Evdokia Innokentyevna Korkina

Evdokiya Innokentjewna Korkina ( Russian Евдокия Иннокентьевна Коркина ; December 4 . Jul / 17th December  1917 greg. In Kytanachski Nasleg, Ulus Churapcha ; † 10. June 2009 in Yakutsk ) was a Soviet - Russian Turkologin and high school teacher Yakut origin.

Life

After training at the Yakutsk Agricultural Technical College , Korkina worked for three years in the regional planning administration of the People's Commissariat for Agriculture of the Yakut Autonomous Soviet Socialist Republic (ASSR) . In 1939 she went to Moscow to study at the Moscow Chernyshevsky Institute for Philosophy , Literature and History . When the institute was closed in October 1941 after the beginning of the German-Soviet War , she returned to Yakutsk and continued to work in the regional planning administration. In 1944 she moved to the Yakutsk Oblast Committee of the Komsomol . In 1947 she became the vice-chairman of the Executive Committee of the Yakutsk City Soviet of Working People .

In 1949, Korkina began studying at the party college of Yakutsk Oblast and at the same time distance learning in the Department of History of the Yakutsk Pedagogical Institute. She completed both studies with honors. In 1952 she became Vice Minister of Education of the Yakut ASSR. In 1954 she began postgraduate for Yakut Language at the Yakutsk branch of the Siberian Department (SO) of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (AN SSSR, 1991 Russian Academy of Sciences (RAN)). In 1960 she successfully defended her dissertation on the forms of the past in the Yakut language for a doctorate as a candidate in philological sciences.

In 1961 Korkina became head of the sector and in 1963 director of the Institute of Language, Literature and History of the Yakutsk branch of the SO of the AN-SSSR. In 1970 she successfully defended her doctoral thesis on the inflection of verbs in the Yakut language for a doctorate in philological sciences. After retiring from the director's office in 1984, she was a senior research scientist. In 1985 she was appointed professor , and from 1991 she was a senior research fellow in the Institute's Department of Linguistics .

Korkina's work with more than 100 publications made significant contributions to the grammar , dialectology and lexicography of the Yakut language. She was a member of the Soviet Committee of Turkologists.

The All-Russian Scientific Readings on Korkina's life and work have been taking place in Yakutsk since 2017.
