Startup houses in Africa

Together with the Berlin association enpact , the foundation set up a business start-up center in Tunis and opened it in March 2016. The startup house in downtown Tunis is the contact point and central meeting point for start-ups and young, economically interested people. In cooperation with local partners, the center bundles existing initiatives and offers under one roof: Startups , prospective founders and interested parties receive the necessary office space and technology, the opportunity to exchange ideas with like-minded people, access to national and international programs, advice and workshops as well as contact with potential investors, authorities and legal advice.

With the startup house Tunis, the Westerwelle Foundation would like to support young founders on their way to self-employment. The house offers individual offices and co-working spaces as well as the associated infrastructure: a workstation with internet and printer as well as meeting, seminar and lounge rooms. In addition to providing the necessary infrastructure, the startup house offers a supportive network of founders from different industries who support each other with knowledge and experience.

The founder rents his workplace in the startup house for a small fee. In 2018, a startup house also opened in Kigali , Rwanda , in cooperation with the evonik Foundation.
