The Westphalian traffic mbH (WVG) in Münster is the service company following transport companies :

The WVG provides the specialist departments that are available to the affiliated companies / businesses. She takes care of the traffic planning, the coordination of the timetables and the central procurement of vehicles and material.

Since January 1, 2011, the shareholders have been RVM (47.14%), RLG (28.57%), VKU (14.29%) and WLE (10.00%).

The group's turnover is 115 million euros. It employs around 1200 people. On November 20, 2014, the television magazine Monitor announced that the company's board members received more than double the industry-standard salary.

The WVG is a member of the tariff association of the federal and non-federal railways in Germany (TBNE).

history

The WVG was founded on January 1st, 1970 as the successor to the traffic department of the Regional Association of Westphalia-Lippe . After the Second World War this had taken over the tasks of the small railroad department of the Westphalian provincial administration. She was responsible for managing the following small railways :

The WVG was responsible for the coordinating operation and management of the following eight transport companies:

  • AG Ruhr-Lippe-Eisenbahn (RLE)
  • Kraftverkehr Westfalen GmbH (KVW)
  • Westfälische Landes-Eisenbahn AG (WLE)
  • Roundabout company Beckum mbH (KVG)
  • Verkehrsbetriebe Kreis Brilon GmbH (VKB)
  • Verkehrsbetriebe Kreis Tecklenburg AG (VKT)
  • Transport company for the district of Lüdinghausen mbH (VKL)
  • Verkehrsgesellschaft Kreis Unna mbH (VKU)
  • Verkehrsgemeinschaft Lünen GmbH (VL)

Since the end of rail passenger transport in 1975, this has only been done by road, mainly with buses .
